Books for Children

Books for Children is an outreach program serving children from birth to age 12 in Jessamine and Fayette Counties. Its goal is to get new books into the hands of children who might otherwise not be able to own books, thereby promoting literacy in our community and a love for reading in our young people.

Nathaniel Mission

The mission has addressed the spiritual, physical and emotional needs of the residents of downtown Lexington’s Irishtown and Davis Bottoms neighborhoods for 57 years. Volunteer’s staff phones, help with free clinics, tutor students, donate school supplies and clothes, make financial donations–the ways to help are endless.

God’s Pantry

Southern Hills participates in this Lexington-based food bank ministry dedicated to reducing hunger, providing nutrition education, and improving the nutritional quality of food available to the hungry in central and eastern Kentucky.

Military Missions

Military Missions –“Reaching Beyond the Yellow Ribbon”

Military Missions was founded in 2005 by Beth Pennington a mother of a US Marine. The organization is a charitable organization run by volunteers and all donations are 100% tax deductible. The organization sends thousands of packages to units of all military branches throughout the year. Support comes from all over the USA through the website, Facebook and X. WWW.militarymissions.org , www.facebook.com/militarymissionsinc, www.instagram.com/militarymissionsinc or on X @military mission.

Names can be added to the care package list through the website. Military missions support KY VA hospitals, the Thomson-Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore for homeless female veterans in addition to many other veterans’ groups. Community organizations are encouraged to express their gratitude for the sacrificial service to those who have worn the uniform. We go beyond the yellow ribbon to give back to those who serve and protect and serve our nation.

For information on how you can get involved in Military Missions contact Southern Hills member Larry Neuzel.
